You need two numbers: the width and height of the area you want the mural to cover, not the whole wall.
- Splashbacks: measure between the worktop and the underside of the cooker hood or wall units. Measure the width between cabinets or the run you want covered.
- Feature walls: measure the full area, then decide whether the mural fills it edge to edge or sits as a framed panel with plain field tiles around it. A framed panel is the most popular choice.
- Bathrooms: measure the zone above the bath or inside the shower enclosure. Check for obstacles like shaver sockets and pipe boxing and subtract them from your usable width.
