Will a ceramic tile mural hold up outdoors?
Yes, when it is made on the right tile. Every outdoor tile mural we make uses porcelain tiles, which absorb very little water, so they are the standard choice for an outdoor wall in the UK climate. The design is printed as a ceramic decal and kiln fired into the glaze, so it becomes part of the tile surface. Unlike printed panels, vinyl or painted wall murals, a kiln fired mural will not peel in the rain or fade in the sun. Every mural carries a 30 year UV guarantee.

Choosing the right size and layout
Measure the outdoor wall and decide how much of it the mural should cover. A small accent mural of 6 to 12 tiles works as a focal point by a door or gate. A large mural across a whole garden wall becomes the centrepiece of the outdoor space. Choose 10x10cm, 15x15cm or 20x20cm tiles, or a custom size, and a gloss or matt finish. How to install an outdoor tile mural
Fix the tiles to a sound, flat outdoor wall surface such as rendered masonry or exterior grade board, using an exterior grade flexible tile adhesive and a frost resistant grout. Fill the back of each tile fully with adhesive so no water can sit behind it. The tiles arrive numbered, so lay them out on the ground first, then fix them in order. Our installation guide covers each step. If you use a tiler, show them the layout before they start.
Cleaning and care
Wash the mural with warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive pads and pressure washing the grout lines at close range. Check the grout every few years and reseal any cracks so water stays out.
