Hedgehog Study No. 16 – Tile Mural

A curious hedgehog snuffles through a carpet of fallen oak leaves and unfurling ferns.

Every mural is printed and kiln fired to order in Somerset, England, on ceramic tiles in your choice of three sizes — 10cm, 15cm or 20cm — and two finishes, Gloss or Matt. Colours are fired into the glaze, so the design is permanent, scratch resistant and completely waterproof, making it suitable for kitchen splashbacks, bathrooms and showers.

The foreground shows a detailed hedgehog nestled amongst mossy groundcover, surrounded by the intricate patterns of bracken and coiled fern fiddleheads. Rich, earthy browns and deep greens dominate the lower half of the scene, drawing the eye to the creature’s spiny coat and gentle expression. In the background, a misty, blue-grey forest recedes into the distance, giving the composition a quiet, atmospheric depth.

With its warm, earthy palette, this mural introduces a cosy, naturalistic element to a living room or snug. The design’s intricate detail works well as a feature wall behind a sofa or in an alcove, complementing interiors with wood, wool, and other natural textures.
