Kingfisher Study No. 5 – Accent Tile

A brightly-coloured kingfisher, with its distinctive turquoise and orange feathers, rests amongst delicate wildflowers.

The Common Kingfisher is rendered in profile, its plumage a brilliant mix of turquoise-blue and warm terracotta-orange. It grips a gnarled, mossy branch that angles across the composition. Surrounding the bird are sprays of gentle wildflowers, including pale bluebells and white anemones, all painted with the soft washes and fine lines characteristic of a botanical watercolour. The entire scene is set against a clean, creamy white background, focusing all attention on the natural subject.

Every mural is printed and kiln fired to order in Somerset, England, on ceramic tiles in your choice of three sizes — 10cm, 15cm or 20cm — and two finishes, Gloss or Matt. Colours are fired into the glaze, so the design is permanent, scratch resistant and completely waterproof, making it suitable for kitchen splashbacks, bathrooms and showers.
